My Thoughts Exactly Grill-tastic Design Team Thursday

Happy Thursday! It's another grill-tastic design team Thursday at My Thoughts Exactly...lol grill-tastic, I really like that for some reason :) Today I have a fun little invitation and party set for an end of the summer BBQ, yup that's why today is grill-tastic (still laughing about that one). I won't babble too long because I have a TON of pictures today...
Not your typical invitation huh? I thought it was fun. The ants and sentiment are from the Grinllin 'N' Chillin set.
Can you tell which set the inside sentiment is from?
It's from three different sets! Sweet Thoughts, Grillin 'N' Chillin, and Under the Sea! Now can you tell what the card base is made out of? I will tell you it's not white cardstock :)
It's acetate paper!
I used my new Echo Park Happy Days paper for the front and I thought it looked so cool from both sides so I used acetate paper for the base. So with every great BBQ there are always some cold drinks, but which one is mine?!? They all look the same, or do they...?
Not with these cute little tags!

Those were all the manly tags, you know guys they can't be holding even remotely girly ;-) All the sentiments were from the Grillin 'N' Chillin set. Now on to the really girly and sparkly tags, what girl doesn't love bling?!?

Aren't those cute? All those sentiments are from the Sweet Thoughts set. So one last time here are all the tags in one picture, of course they are all tied with a different color of Trendy Twine.
As a side note these little tags could also be tied around the stems of wine glasses if that is your preferred beverage container.

Whew, that was a lot of pictures. Good work if you made it all the way through them. I hope you have enjoyed my project today, now go out and enjoy the last bits of summer (that is if you live in the Midwest where winter is just on the horizon). Oh wait, first go check out Jennifer's projects, great minds think a like :)

Bling Templates!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. We had a fun weekend visiting my parents. I had a reunion for the Solar Vehicle Project I worked on during my undergraduate days. It was a lot of fun to see the new car and here about all the fun they had racing it this past year. Of course my mom and I got in to some crafty shopping. Stay tuned for pictures of projects made from all my loot! Today marks the start of my semester and the start of my teaching career so be prepared for de-stressing crafting these next three months :-D

Today is another MTC/SVG Monday over at The Scrapoholic. This week Jill has created so awesome bling templates for you. I used the smallest circle template to create my cards.

Each of the cards is 3"x3" and features stamps from Stampin' Up.
Here I embossed the background paper with my Cuttlebug, the folder was inked before I put the paper in giving the cool spots inside the embossed circles.
I used an edge folder here to emboss the edge of the background and then inked over the image. Of course there is some Trendy Twine on there. I added one purple rhinestone to the ring o' bling just for fun.

Be sure to stop by The Scrapoholic and pick up your files and check out the rest of the design team's creations. Make sure you come back Thursday to see some more of Jill's templates on My Thoughts Exactly Design Team Thursday.

My Thoughts Exactly Design Team Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is going by fast, I know mine is. That may be because I start teaching on Tuesday and have yet to plan a thing...anyway enough about my week. Today is another My Thoughts Exactly Design Team Thursday, who doesn't love DT Thursday? Today I will be showcasing the Sweet Thoughts set in two projects, well it's really one super cute gift set ;-)
Wouldn't that put a smile on your face if you were feeling a little down? I know it would make me smile!
This cute little milk carton box is designed my Jessica Bashaw and is available at SVG Place in the Kitchen Boxes SVG Collection. Jessica also has a very similar box in her Fun Favors SVG Collection available at her SVG Attic store. While you are checking out SVG Attic be sure to check out the awesome SVG sets Jessica designed just for the My Thoughts Exactly stamps! The milk carton is obviously wrapped in the ever yummy Trendy Twine; Strawberry Cupcake Pink, Light Pink, and Chocolate Truffle Brown.
Speaking of chocolate, everything is better with chocolate, right? Well that's what the cute little milk carton says, and guess what...IT'S FILLED WITH CHOCOLATE CANDY!
This cute little 3"x3" card was the perfect little carrier for a little pick 'em up message. Just as the sentiment says, just a note to cherry you up. I cut the cherries out using the Lettering Delights Food Cut It Simple Shapes set. Instead of using the round cherries that were part of the image, I cut them off once it was all cut out and replaced them with little red buttons tied with Strawberry Cupcake Pink Trendy Twine.
I just love how this came out, I hope it inspires you in some way today! Have a fabulous weekend and don't forget to stop by My Thoughts Exactly to check out the other DT projects.

AIRPLANES and a card :)

Hello, I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. I know I did, we went to the Fargo Airsho! I spent a good hour going through my pictures and videos this morning, all 1102 of them! Here are a few of my favorites:

It was a gorgeous day as you can see from the pictures and if you can't tell I LOVE airplanes! The Blue Angels are simply amazing to watch, I could watch them all day long.

Ok, on to what you really came here to see, some crafting! Last week you may have noticed I finally joined in on the Our Creative Corner Challenge, well this week I'm adding a few new challenge blogs to my list of inspiration. Our Creative Corner posed the challenge of using fruit in your creation, while CAS-Fridays and Clean & Simple Stamping teamed up for a sketch challenge. Here is the OCC inspiration photo:
And here is the CAS-Fridays and Clean & Simple Stamping sketch:
In case you haven't figured it out I'm combining all three challenges in one card! So without further ado here it is:
The balloons came from the Stampin' Up! Sock Monkey set. The strings on the balloons are of course Trendy Twine in yummy Strawberry Cupcake Pink. The papers are Stampin' Up! Pretty in Pink cardstock for the base and October Afternoon's Cherry Hill: Tea Towel (the cherries are one side and the dictionary text is the other).
The cute little sentiment is from the Sweet Thoughts set over at My Thoughts Exactly and I used Dew Drop Brilliance Galaxy Gold to ink all the stamps.

I hope you have been inspired by my card today and be sure to stop by all the challenges to check them out. If you have the courage enter one, you never what may come of it if you don't try!

SVG/MTC Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today is another MTC/SVG Monday over at the Scrapoholic. This week's theme is palm trees. I decided to go with a step card with the idea of relaxing on the beach, lying in my hammock, listening to the waves splash against the beach.

The palm trees and sand 'mounds' are both from the free files this week. I used core'dinations paper for the sand mounds to give them a two-tone look. I'm pretty happy with how they came out. My hammock is a scrap of bright fabric I had lying in my craft room and it's hung up with some Trendy Twine.

Those waves in the background are from the last MTC/SVG Monday design team day, they were perfect for this card!

The sentiment is from the Grillin 'N' Chillin set from My Thoughts Exactly. I thought it was perfect for my little piece of heaven card.
Have a wonderful rest of your week and be sure to stop by and check out the challenge at the Scrapoholic.

If you are on facebook I'd love for you to join me on my new page there as well.

Heart to heart, hand in hand...

I have been stalking Our Creative Corner (OCC) for a little while now. My fellow My Thoughts Exactly design team member, Jennifer, also designs for OCC. Every week they have a fabulous challenge based on some kind of inspiration, not to mention the DT's awesome projects. I've been watching and taking notes on all the cool ideas they have, well today I decided to take the plunge and join in all the fun. This week the challenge is to create something based on this photo taken by Kristin on her recent trip to Copenhagen:
The catch...you can't use any flowers in your creation. This was a hard one, but this is the wedding card I finally came up with.
I used the current challenge sketch from The Scrapoholic's Sketchy Saturday, for the layout. From Kristin's photo I took the idea of each flower being a combination of various shades of the same color with small amounts of white here and there. The monogram rosette was just a 1" x 11" strip of white cardstock that I scored and folded at every 1/4" then backed and topped with a 1 1/2" circle. The hearts behind the monogram rosette are a Stampin' Up! stamp that I cut out by hand, it's been awhile since I cut something by hand! Of course there is some Trendy Twine wrapped around the bottom.

This angle shows the vellum accent behind the monogram rosette and bottom heart a little better, the vellum was really tricky to photograph. It looks much cooler in person.
Here you can see the dimension on the front with a little peak at the inside.
And here is the sentiment on the inside. I stuck with the shades of blue and white throughout the whole card, right down to the white pearl and crystal accents on the front. I'm really pleased with how it came out.

Make sure you stop by the OCC blog and check out the challenge this week as well as The Scrapoholic's Sketchy Saturday challenge.

If you are on facebook I'd love for you to come join me there too.

I need a favor!

So I don't normally ask you do to anything for me but I have a tiny task that I'd love for each of you to complete. My wonderful and amazingly talented fellow design team member over at My Thoughts Exactly, Jennifer, is in the final round of Gallery Idol. All I'm asking is for you to please go vote for her here, her work is amazing and she is totally deserving of the prize! Jennifer is a music teacher for 1st-5th grade students, a profession I have the utmost respect for.

As an ode to Jennifer, I thought I would share a project I made inspired by one of her entries into the competition, you can find it here on her blog. So here is my attempt at a 'puffy' card...I used the cupcake from the Sweet Nothings collection from Lettering Delights.
I sewed around the edges of the cupcake to hold in the stuffing and added a few zig-zags to the wrapper to give it some dimension. BTW I need to work on my sewing, I see it's not very straight...oh well. Here you can see the puffiness of the cupcake's icing. Isn't it cute? I just knew I had to try this when I saw Jennifer's card.
On the inside I added a little sentiment on vellum and some bling. The sentiment...it's from the newly released My Thoughts Exactly Sweet Thoughts stamp set.
Here's closer look at the sentiment, a phrase that was not on the list of 50+ possibilities I might add. This set has so many options you won't want to miss out!
The voting is really easy, all you to do is go here and click on save vote. You will need an account but one can easily be created if you are already on facebook. If not the registration process is still very quick. You have until 12pm (MDT) Thursday August 4, I know Jennifer will appreciate any votes you give her. Thank you in advance for voting and if you have some time stop by Jennifer's blog and leave her some love. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Happy crafting!
